Who’sWho

but doing it NOW is better!

E-mail a blurb (75 words or fewer) about yourself for
the program’s Who’s Who to Ms. Maynard.  Be
sure to mention your previous roles, in BCP or XCP productions or elsewhere.  Tell something about yourself and your
reaction to the current production.   You
might mention your favorite role, show, school class, teacher and why.

You may mention your participation in clubs,
leadership positions, activities, sports, your GPA, where you hope to go to
college, your intended major, any shout outs.

I would appreciate you including your GPA.  Trust me; if it is low, I will not include it.

Thank you,

Ms. D

Follow the format of the samples below which were taken
from a  program for Brighton Beach Memoirs.

Michael Margetis (Jack)  With too many credits to mention from acting with the Valley
Youth Theatre, Michael scored his tour de force last summer winning an
Arizoni Award of  Excellence for his role
as Harry MacAffee in their production of Bye, Bye Birdie.  He was seen as the Winkie General in the XCP
production of The Wizard of Oz.  Remarkably
frightening as Lt. Kendrick in A Few Good Men, Michael’s talent
completely turned the tables on Brophy audiences when he wowed them as the
lovable, laughable baseball manager Van Buren in Damn Yankees.  Additionally Michael finds time to
participate in Xavier’s Drama Club and win awards for Brophy in Speech and
Debate.

Jorge Franco (Eugene) This is Jorge’s second appearance in
a Brophy production, having been seen last as Judge Randolph in A Few Good
Men
.  Other than acting on stage, he
may be seen occasionally in commercials on television, and he enjoys tennis,
basketball, and playing the saxophone.
Jorge enjoys Mr. Malloy’s graphic design class for its creative, fun,
interesting projects.

Sarah Lemon (costumes)  A third time costumer, Sara has also won some
important acting roles, starring as Peter Pan, himself, and General
Cartwright (Guys and Dolls) before coming to Xavier.  A member of the Transfer Club, she looks
forward to studying environmental science at Penn State.

BROPHY THEATRE

September 12, 2011

Dear Theatre Parent,

It is with great pleasure I inform you that your son or daughter has been cast in the Brophy production of Death of a Salesman. A rehearsal schedule for September is now posted on the Brophy home page. Click on Academics, then Activities, then Theatre. This calendar will be updated regularly and is subject to change. Students are responsible for checking it daily. If for any reason an actor cannot attend a rehearsal it is his or her responsibility to e-mail me ddunnion@brophyprep.org no later than 8:00 a.m. on the day of the scheduled rehearsal. Over 100 students auditioned for this show, so your student’s being cast is a considerable accomplishment. Clearly there are many students who were disappointed; therefore, when I say attendance at rehearsals is mandatory, I mean simply that. Students who miss rehearsals for any reason other than illness may be replaced. Blocking rehearsals will be at BCP in the Black Box Theatre or in my classroom, B-21, from 3:00 to 5:30 M-Th and 12:30 to 3:00 on Fridays until the last two weeks before production. Once we get two weeks out, everyone will be rehearsing daily on stage. Daily rehearsals at this point are mandatory even for those with small parts. These rehearsals typically run from 3:15 until 6:00. The public performances will be at 7:00, October 26, 27, 29, and November 2. 3, 5, 2011. Students are required to be in school on the days of performances and the following day. They are also responsible for all homework and tests during this time. (Some teachers may choose to be flexible, but probably only if approached early and sincerely.) Participation in theatre is a privilege. Progress reports from BCP will be out next week, and XCP will be about this time, as well. If any actor is issued one or more, I am asking him/her to withdraw from the cast. As students their first priority must be academic, and if they are having problems now, I do not want theatre to contribute to them. Thank you for your support in this area.

I am asking each actor to turn in the emergency form immediately, if not already returned. I have attached a second form for those who lost the original one. Please print, complete, sign and return the hard copy to me.

The only expenses incurred by actors and crew are optional and are the price of a Death of a Salesman t-shirt (usually about $10.00) and a cast party fee of $5.00, which goes towards a cast and crew party at the home of a benevolent and centrally located family following our November 5 performance. The party will begin after the performance once actors and crew are excused and go until 12:00. If you would be willing to host this party, please tell your student or call me at school.

I look forward to working with your student and our production!

Truly yours,
