Sod is going in as this is written with completion of the natural grass playing fields slated for the week of October 12th. Lime stabilization is occurring on the Field Turf artificial field and track simultaneously. Protective ball fences line the 7th Street side of the property already in anticipation of students using the field when the turf is established near the end of this year.
Within the next few weeks wrought iron fencing will appear followed by bounties of ash trees donated by Brophy’s great friends Brian Blake’77 and Cindy Graber, owners of Whitfill nurseries. Watch this website for updates on our progress!

September 11, 2009 – PRESS RELEASE! Located at 7th Street and Highland Avenue in north central Phoenix, the facility will provide Brophy College Preparatory with the much needed field space for all its teams.
Jeff Glosser, Assistant Principal for Activities offers, “Brophy has had ONE field for football, soccer, lacrosse and all the practices for freshmen, junior varsity and varsity teams. Brophy students apply for admissions from about 150 grade schools and middle schools valley-wide as far as Ahwatukee, New River, Verrado and Fountain Hills. When these students are involved in sports it is difficult for carpools and timing to have practices before school or very late into the evening. The new Brophy Sports Campus will revolutionize our practice schedule.”
Brophy has spent the last few years raising money for the final phase of their Major Gifts Campaign and through this fund-raising, currently has $5.2M in cash restricted for this project. “We are excited to be getting this project off the ground,” says Father Eddie Reese, S.J., Brophy’s President, “and we are only spending monies we have collected already which are designated for this campus. This phase will give us a Field Turf synthetic soccer/football/lacrosse field, an all weather track and natural grass practice fields. Our coaches and students are so excited to start using it.”
The natural turf field is due to be ready by mid-November and the artificial turf and ancillary buildings will be done by April, 2010.
