Brophy Alum Helps Families Living with Special Needs Children
Ron Giordan ’92 and his wife started “Gio’s Garden,” a non-profit organization named after their oldest son Giovanni. Gio lives with a rare form of Epilepsy called Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, putting him on the Autism Spectrum. Gio is developmentally disabled and has multiple seizures daily. After struggling through a maze of services, the Giordans started “Gio’s Garden” with a mission to nurture and strengthen families with special needs children by increasing access to needed services.

Ron writes, “Our goal is to open a respite care facility for parents of special needs children in the Dane County, Wisconsin area who are on a respite care waiting list - there are hundreds. Respite care, or "relief" is one of the most basic needs a parent with a child like Gio needs but rarely gets. Please visit www.giosgarden.org and read our story, spread the word and consider donating to a worthy cause...and a fellow Bronco.”

Bootcamp started 10 days ago...

March 30, 2010 - For what? You might ask. It was 1990 and the State Championship Soccer Title was on the line. Brophy battled Marcos de Niza high school. Back then, the AIA rules on soccer would make any true Football fan crazy. Co-Champions...seriously? That's the way it was. The teams came off the field ready for penalty kicks, unaware that the game was already over. The AIA rules stated that in the event of a tie, there would be co-Champions. To even write that makes me cringe.

The stage is set though. Brophy will take on Marcos de Niza again...in a REMATCH! Yes, the Brophy men from the 1990 team have fought long and hard to make this dream come true in the Gatorade Replay at the new Brophy Sports Campus on Saturday -May 8th at 7p with Brian Wendel '92 leading the charge. All proceeds will benefit the Paul Micheletti Memorial. Paul Micheletti was the beloved coach of 1990 soccer team, who lost his life in a car accident the year after.
