December 3, 2009 - Bill Reilly '80 recently joined Yelp.com as attorney in San Francisco. He is expecting his second child with his wife Jenny in May 2010.

Robert Guyette '97 will be performing the Army Navy Game flyover in the F18 Fighter Jet on December 12, 2009 in Philadelphia, Penn. Rob will be pinning the wings on his brother 2nd Lt. Brian Guyette '04 the following weekend in Del Rio, Texas on 12/18/2009.  He will complete Jet Pilot Flight training in the T -38.  Brian is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy. (Photographed below with brother Rob)

November 23, 2009 - Cameron Charness '06 was one of the stars of Brophy's 2005 National Science Bowl team, instructed by Brophy teacher Cheryl Lenox. Cameron recently presented his summer research project at the Carnegie Institute. The attached poster shows his findings in "Bar Properties as a Function of Wavelength", crucial components of galactic structure. Cameron is finishing up at Harvey Mudd College this year and plans to go on to Astrophysics in grad school. View project...






November 23, 2009 - Joseph Kenny '70 was recently named Grand Prize Winner of the International Screenwriters Association's Exposurama Screenplay Contest. November 20, 2009 - Marty Schwarzkopf '79 and John Propstra '90 launched a new business venture this year. Star Human Resources is an HR outsourcing company including employee benefits, payroll services, worker's comp, etc, serving small to mid-size businesses. November 19, 2009 - Thomas Vajda '84 is currently serving as Acting Charge d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Burma. In October, he, along the British ambassador & Australian diplomats, met with Aung San Suu Kyi, the opposition National League Dem leader who has been on house arrest for 14 of the last 20 years and most recently since May 2003. They met over the lifting of sanctions on Burma. Another meeting is expected. After graduating from Brophy, Tom received a PolySci degree from Stanford and a Masters from Fletcher School of International Law and Diplomacy at Tufts. His first assignment for the State Department was in Berlin as Assistant to the US Ambassador. Since he has served at the US Embassies in South Korea and Albania. Before assuming his current position in Burma, Tom has been assigned to Pacific Rim Countries desk at the State Department and served as Assistant to former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright at the Pacific Rim Conference.

November 4, 2009 - Doug Becker '63 FOUND! Doug swam with the 1960 Swim Team which was inducted into the Brophy Hall of Fame in 2001. He could not take part in the Hall of Fame that year because Brophy couldn't find him! Welcome back Doug :-)

November 6, 2009 - The Fadok family update: Capt. George Fadok '74 is recently retired from the Navy and is living in Helotes, Texas. Geoffrey Fadok '75 is retired and living in Scottsdale. David Fadok '78 is a General in the Air Force and living in Miramar, Florida and Christopher Fadok '86 will be ordained as a Dominican Brother in June 2010. He is current living at the St. Albert Priory in Oakland, California.

November 6, 2009 - Geoff Hays '05 graduated from Creighton this year with a BS in Chemistry. He was accepted to Creighton's medical school and is now working on his MD.

November 6, 2009 - Daryl Nelson '07 is in his junior year at Texas Christian University majoring in Athletic Training. During the summer of 2008 & 2009, Daryl was an Athletic Training Intern for the Buffalo Bills during their pre-season training camps. This past April, Daryl was awarded Best Research Paper by a TCU organization for his work "From Bats to Basketballs: Decline of African Americans in Baseball". This fall he will be a student trainer for the nationally ranked Horned Frogs Football Team. (Photo right)

November 5, 2009 - Matthew Giezsl '03 attended USC '04 before transferring to Annapolis, where he graduated with the 2008 class at USNA '08. Matt attended Naval Nuclear Power School in 2009 and is now stationed with the Submarine Fleet USS Jacksonville in Pearl Harbor.


October 27, 2009 - Peter Olsen '90 ran his 6th marathon of the year with his 7th and last for 2009 coming this weekend. He's hoping to return to Phoenix this January 2010 to join the PF Chang's Rock 'n Roll Marathon. The photo (right) was taken at the Berlin Marathon on September 20th.

October 9, 2009 - Jim Campisano '68 (photo right) passed away after a 21-month battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He is the brother of Fred Campisano, former Physics teacher, Asst. Principal of Student Activities and football coach (1970-1990), and uncle to Gino '87. Jim also has sisters who are Xavier alumnae, Kathie Campisano-Stooks and Kim Campisano, as well as niece Michelle Campisano-Nunley. Jim lived in Santa Rosa, California for 28 years with his wife Maryann and his sons Aron and Chris. Read Jim's online obituary >

November 4, 2009 - Greg Sullivan '03 is living in DC these days. He just finished work as a community developer/business educator in Ukraine where he learned Russian, taught economics and NGO development project. He's currently working with the communications department at the Human Rights Campaign in DC.


September 4, 2009 - After senior year at Brophy, Jason Hoover '08 attended Marion Military Institute in Marion, Alabama on a West Point Preparatory scholarship. Upon completion of his preparatory year at MMI, he was 1 of 3 students to receive the Citizenship Medal. Jason entered Cadet Basic Training soon after at West Point and has successfully completed 6 weeks of CBT. Hoover began classes this past August and will graduate in 2013 & commissioned as a second lieutenant in the US Army.

September 1, 2000 - Brandon Quinn '07 is headed to Lima, Peru for the semester. He received an internship with the UN Regional Centre for Peace, Disarmament and Development, the regional branch of the Department of Disarmament Affiairs. He will be assisting legal officers with a comparative study on firearms law and legal norms for illicit trafficking. August 31, 2009 - After leaving the Brophy faculty in Gary Cabirac '73 is in his 2nd year of teaching at Arizona State University. He teaches in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry and runs the General Chemistry Laboratory Program in which he coordinates all the chemistry graduate students who teach lab classes, encompassing approximately 3,000 students each semester.

August 26, 2009 - James Goodnow '99 and wife Erin Ryan (XCP 99) launched a business this year, Going Ivy LLC is an educational consulting firm that efficiently maximizes students' chances of gaining admission to the the college of their choice. August 4, 2009 - Matthew Merritt '02 is a First Lieutenant in the US Air Force, he is a Contracting Officer. Matthew graduated from the US Air Force Academy in May 2007 and is currently stationed at Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma. In June 2007, he married Mandi Hanson (XCP 03). They have a daughter, Madilyn, born in April 2009.

July 27, 2009 - Chris Benguhe '86 is a former National Enquirer writer turned Catholic author and columnist. This summer he launches his website "One More Day Alive" to inspire faith and offer comfort in trying times. Visit his website at onemoredayalive.com.

June 30, 2009 - Taylor Krauss '98 founded Voices of Rwanda, a non-profit organization dedicated to documenting the testimonies of Rwandans and informing the world about genocide. Taylor was also recently awarded the 2009 Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award for the film "War in DR Congo," along with other members of the "Worldfocus."
