Jim Johnson '67 was ordained a Permanent Deacon for the Diocese of Stockton, Califonia. He is assigned to his home parish, Our Lady of Fatima in Modesto.

Stephen J. Pyne ' 67, (correction to the e-News which stated Steve was a 71 grad) renowned environmental historian specializing in forest fires. At Brophy, he debated at National Forensic League (the other NFL) speech tournaments; he played varsity football and baseball; and during summers fought forest fires on the North rim of the Grand Canyon. He earned a BA from Stanford University, a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin & a MacArthur Foundation Genius Award worth $250,000 (for which one is chosen but does not apply.)   Stephen has published several books; been interviewed for programs on PBS and quoted in National Geographic, among other media sources.  He is currently a professor at Arizona State University.
