Congratulations
to Manuel Giner '04, Tommy
Lavelle '04 and Taylor
Spears '04 for being inducted into Phi Beta Kappa,
founded in 1776, is the nation's oldest and most prestigious
honor society for the arts and sciences. Members include
President's George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton, actress Glenn
Close, novelist John Updike, physicist Brian Greene and all-pro
quarterback Peyton Manning.
Billy Lavelle '04 is a senior at the University
of Redlands in Redlands, CA. After transferring from
Glendale Community College in 2006, Billy has pursued a degree
in business.
He also is starting second baseman for the Bulldogs and punter
on the football team, which won the Southern California Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference championship this season.
Tommy
Lavelle '04 is pursuing a double major as a President's
Scholar at ASU Honors Program, anthropology and business studies. While
at ASU, Tom was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity and recently
completed a year as chapter president. In addition, Tom has
been a two-year starter for the ASU Rugby Club and has traveled
with the club to Australia and Great Britain.
In the Spring ’08 semester, Tom will be studying in Chile
at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso.
He will be taking business courses taught in Spanish.
Chris Nitta '04 Garners Academic All-America
Honors

Senior tri-captain Chris Nitta of the United States Merchant
Marine Academy soccer team was named an ESPN The Magazine Third
Team Academic All-American in the College Division. The announcement
was made by the College Sports Information Directors of America
earlier today. This is the first time the sweeper has garnered
this award after being named an Academic All-District pick the
