Brophy Senior Alex Righi was named National Male High School Swimmer of the Year by Swimming World magazine yesterday. This is the highest honor given to a high school swimmer. Alex was number one in the nation in two events (100 freestyle and 100 backstroke) and 2nd in the nation in the 50 freestyle. Alex’s 100 backstroke time was the 7th fastest in United States high school history. He also teamed with his brother Carter, TJ Hutter and David Pursley on Brophy’s National Championship 200 freestyle relay.

This is a great honor for Alex and Brophy, especially since it is the first time any Arizona male high school swimmer has won this honor.
